Dubai witnessed a historic moment today as Sheikh Zayed Road was transformed into the world’s largest running track, with an unprecedented 278,000 participants gathering for the record-breaking Dubai Run 2024. The event, part of the Dubai Fitness Challenge, underscored the city’s dedication to health, fitness, and community spirit.
This milestone event was spearheaded by Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai, Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Defence of the UAE, and Chairman of Dubai’s Executive Council. Sheikh Hamdan’s leadership and vision have been pivotal in turning Dubai into a global hub for fitness and well-being.

Sharing his gratitude, Sheikh Hamdan posted on X: “278,000 runners. Thank you, Dubai for making a lifetime of memories.” The participation marked a remarkable 23% increase from last year’s edition.

The early morning saw participants, ranging from professional athletes to families with children, gathering near the Museum of the Future to embark on the 5km and 10km routes. Among the diverse crowd were individuals of determination and those with disabilities, embodying the inclusive spirit of the event.
Alister Rebello, who traveled from Ras Al Khaimah, shared his enthusiasm: “This annual celebration of health is unmissable.” Similarly, Kevin Lobo, a long-time participant, highlighted the importance of involving children to carry forward the message of fitness and well-being.
Adding to the vibrant atmosphere, paragliders lit up the skies with neon displays, forming the UAE’s national flag.
